New Single EPK for immediate release

Cloud Studies ‘Avenue’

Release Date | 1 May 2026

South London’s Cloud Studies return with their new single, ‘Avenue’, a quiet meditation on change, loss and renewal.

FFO: ambient, dreampop, shoegaze, folktronica, Slowdive, Galaxie 500

Written by singer Adam Cresswell the lyrics reflect on the gradual erosion of trees along his street, a slow, almost imperceptible disappearance that became impossible to ignore. Framed through conversations with his children, the song balances loss with hope, gently urging the next generation to nurture renewal.

Since writing the song, that sentiment has moved beyond reflection into action, with his family playing their part in the planting of two new street-trees on their road, a small but tangible gesture towards renewal. That lived experience gives the song added resonance: it’s not simply a lament, but a call for quiet, patient rebuilding.

Musically ‘Avenue’ sits in an ethereal, unhurried space. Predominantly acoustic at its core, the track drifts through warm, shoegaze textures, while subtle synth tones take it into folktronica territory.

The release also marks a significant moment for the Cloud Studies. Alongside Cresswell on vocals and synth and Martin J Langthorne on guitar, ‘Avenue’ sees the re-joining of co-founding member Michael Malley to the band, whose return on guitar and lead synth bring renewed depth and texture to their sound. It’s a fitting homecoming on a single that so thoughtfully explores what it means to restore and begin again.

Since forming in 2024, the band have earned attention for their widescreen approach to dream-pop and shoegaze, blending lush guitars, introspective lyricism, and textural experimentation across their early singles. Acclaim has come from the likes of esteemed industry bible The Unsigned Guide and blogs, with, not least the Analogue Trash blog who said ‘since forming, they have produced some of the best shoegaze the UK has to offer’. The band has received official playlisting from Qobuz, Apple Music and Tidal including the no.1 slot in their Indie Britain playlist.
